"In Memoriam: Luis Rocha (1944-2016)" by Cherie Dourin, Vice President, American Genetics International

For those that knew Lou Rocha, my business partner and best friend for 30 years, he passed away at 4:00AM on Friday, April 8th. He had been in the hospital since Christmas Day, 3.5 months, eventually developed pneumonia and just couldn't fight anymore.

He had been active in livestock exports for 34 years and loved the challenge, the animals, the foreign buyers, and the opportunity to make a difference in the genetics of the importing countries.

Luis was a member of the Livestock Exporters Association USA and served for many years as the Livestock Committee Chairman for the Animal Transportation Association.

Lou was an amazing man and friend to all. He was always willing to help and couldn't tell anyone "no". He felt that this was the legacy he wanted to be known for - being a friend to all - and such an amazing legacy he built over the years.

He will be missed - by those that called him Papa Rocha (both young and old), by those that loved him, and by those who were glad - no, privileged - to call him friend.

Visitation and viewing were held this past Wednesday April 13. If you would like to make a donation to the Rocha family to help with the unexpected funeral services and such, you can do so here.

Thanks for your support and friendship over the years; thanks for being a part of his legacy.
